built in 1922 in the heart of boston's financial district, the langham boston is a 4-star hotel that has all the renaissance charm you could eat! the hotel is housed in the former federal reserve bank of boston. the old bank was designed by richard clipston sturgis, a boston based architect, who used the palazzo della cancelleria in rome as his inspiration. the langham boston was then redesigned and remains of the bank, like gold coin moldings and the vault used as their kitchen, can still be found today. i'm a huge fan of old school charm and rich architectural designs, and that's just what the langham boston is all about.
i spent an overnight "staycation" at the langham boston and it was nothing but a genuinely fantastic experience! my friend/photographer brodie met up with me to take some photos (of course!) i was greeted by pink macarons, that i devoured in 2 seconds, as soon as i got in the room. they put us in their executive room that had an amazing view of the post office square! it was a hot friday when i arrived. i had no idea that the hotel would have a pool until i stalked the site online and i was sure to pack my bathing costume. i got changed and then took a quick dip in their pool. i then freshened up to get a french martini or 3 at bond, their hotel bar downstairs. brian had worked until midnight that night and he came over after.
the next morning, we had a 9am wake up knock with fruits, coffee, croissants and other pastries for breakfast. we had an 11am reservation for their 28th season of saturday chocolate bar. we were taken to our table by their lovely hostess, taylor and was greeted by their restaurant manager, sunny. juan was our waiter and later brought over their pastry chef, ryan, whom i had to thank so much for his amazing talent of concocting such sweets. with all the chocolate we can eat, it's safe to say that brian and i were chocolate wasted!
i have nothing but great things to say about the langham boston. nothing about the way the staffs acted towards us was a facade due to the fact that everyone knew i'm some kind of blogger who was to write a post about my stay. everyone truly was genuine to a t and i truly felt that. if i was offered to stay at the langham boston again, it would definitely be a 100% yes! it wasn't just an overnight sleepover, it was an amazing experience.
thank you so so much to christina alessi for putting all of this together. salim, for being in my shots with the infamous pink car. the cutest conceirge ever, jeanne. taylor, sunny, juan and chef ryan from the chocolate bar. and thanks to the langham boston, in general, for an unforgettable escape!
