Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being one of the firsts to try out the new cocktail menu at the Langham, Boston. For the past year, they've been working with Boston's local Bully Boy Distillers to create the Reserve Gin which is available exclusively inside the Langham's tea room, The Reserve and hotel bar and restaurant, BOND. The gin is named after the old Reserve Bank, which was what the Langham was before it became a hotel.
Despite being a worldwide hotel, the Langham, Boston really pride on the fact that they partner up with local businesses around the Boston and New England area for just about anything they serve inside the hotel. I think that is really cool that they're all for supporting local businesses.
Upon arriving at the Langham, I had afternoon tea with Dinah, the Langham's Director of PR and Jenna, food editor for the Boston Magazine. We chatted a bit and had bites and desserts and their drink called the G & Tea which is their cocktail that's infused with the Reserve Gin.
We then headed out to Roxbury to the Bully Boy Distillers where we got a tour of where all the magic happens. We were greeted by Will, one of the brothers that founded Bully Boy, and his colleague Charlie. They had recently moved into their new location and had a tasting room made that's open to the public. I'm not going to get into the process of how they make their liquor because I will most likely embarrass myself. I'm not at all a gin or vodka or rum or bourbon connoisseur but I have to say, making alcohol is pretty much a whole science of its own. It was definitely a fun experience to learn more about it.
After the tour, we headed back to the Langham's restaurant and lounge, BOND, for more bites and drinks. BOND is now what used to be the old Reserve Bank's president's office.
I say definitely check out the Langham, Boston's cocktail menu with the Reserve Gin because everything was delicious! Also, if you haven't been, head over to the Bully Boy Distillers for a tour. Literally as soon as you walk inside the building, you'd get drunk with the aroma from the spirits alone. Kidding! But def check them out!
Again, I'm not a major lq nerd but this is from my experience! But hey, what do I know?! I just run!
